In North Tyneside, we have administered 100,000 covid vaccines to date in our GP led local vaccination centres. Barbara Lancaster, aged 76 from Whitley Bay received the 100,000 COVID-19 vaccine in North Tyneside on Saturday 10th April. She was ecstatic to receive the milestone vaccine and said ‘That’s some number! Well done’.

We are pleased to announce that 102,438 of our residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This means that 57.3% of North Tyneside residents have good protection from coronavirus, but longer lasting protection when the second dose is administered. Currently only residents which are aged 16 and above can receive the COVID-19 vaccine (data as at 8th April 2021, source NHSE Statistical website).
If you are currently booked in for your vaccination but have some concerns or questions about the vaccine, then please keep the booking and attend the vaccination centre. There are GPs and clinical professionals on hand to answer any queries you may have. This allows you to make an informed choice from discussions with medical professionals on what the pros and cons of the vaccine are and any risk factors to your particular circumstances. You are under no obligation to proceed with the vaccination by attending the appointment.
